Big Ass Fans Designs First Industrial Ceiling Fan with Integrated LED

    June 12, 2013
    PFX

LEXINGTON, Ky., June 11, 2013 — The Big Ass Fan® Company today introduced the world’s first LED-equipped industrial ceiling fan, an all-in-one package that’s an ideal addition to facilities’ energy-efficient lighting programs.

The Powerfoil X LED delivers as much light as a massive, 400W metal halide, covering the entire diameter of the fan while using less than 175W. Its tempered glass lens is designed to provide excellent optical properties which minimize glare. The light is easily installed and ties directly into an existing lighting grid for simple control.

The LED is equipped to the Powerfoil® X, which is Big Ass Fans’ most durable, quiet and effective industrial ceiling fan. It generates huge volumes of gentle air movement using small (1-2 hp) motors, making it an extremely energy-efficient way to cool large areas. With the integration of the LED, the new Powerfoil X LED eliminates any need to rearrange lighting grids to avoid a shadowing effect that may occur with very large (8-ft to 24-ft diameter) ceiling fans. Most importantly, the Powerfoil X LED directs the light where it’s needed most — beneath the fan where people are working.

    p

“The Powerfoil X LED solves a challenge facing many of our customers,” said Big Ass Fans CEO Carey Smith. “Combining the quiet operation of the Powerfoil X fan and the cool efficiency of a state-of-the-art LED light source, Powerfoil X LED is a must-have for industrial spaces.”
