Kerrygold Skellig Sweet CheddarThe Irish Dairy Board introduced Kerrygold Skellig, a sweet Cheddar cheese, to supermarkets and specialty stores across the United States.

The sweet Cheddar variety is popular in the United Kingdom and Kerrygold introduced Skellig in anticipation of this European trend catching on in the U.S.

The cheese features a firm, yet creamy texture, with a nuttiness flavor and sweet apple notes. According to the company, the cheese is not sweet like sugar, but has a more flavorful, high-umami quality.

Like all Kerrygold cheeses and butters, Skellig is made in Ireland with milk from grass-fed cows that are free of artificial growth hormones. The cheese is sold in 7-ounce parchment packages for a suggested retail price of $5.99. It's now available at major supermarkets and specialty stores across the U.S.

Kerrygold is the international brand of the Irish Dairy Board, a marketing and selling cooperative created by Ireland's small dairy farmer co-ops and co-op creameries to export butter and cheeses all over the world. Kerrygold USA is headquartered in Evanston, Ill.
