Dairy processors promoted nondairy refreshments in this week's free-standing inserts. Even the family dog had a treat as relief from the heat wave blanketing much of the United States.

Turkey Hill promotes its No. 1 iced tea

Kroger's Turkey Hill division, citing IRI sales data, promoted its beverage as "The #1 selling refrigerated iced tea in America." The tea is "bottled cold, shipped cold, and sold cold," according to the FSI. A logo with the words "25% wind powered dairy" is shown, along with a website, turkeyhill.com/green.

J & J Snack Foods offers frozen novelties

"Summertime Refreshments" is the headline on an FSI from J & J Snack Foods. Pictured are Minute Maid juice bars, Whole Fruit fruit bar, Luigi's Italian ice and Whole fruit smoothies. A line of frozen treats for dogs called Dogsters is also shown. The Facebook logo is included on the FSI.

In other FSI activity this week:

  • Kraft Foods promotes its Fresh Take kits that include cheese, seasonings and bread crumbs. "Yum up your burgers" is the headline over an image of hamburger. The words "Crisp up your tenders" appears with chicken tenders.
  • Back to Nature Foods Co. shows its macaroni and cheese dinner boxes. The FSI makes the claims: "no artificial preservatives or flavors; naturally good source of protein; 0g trans fat per serving."
