A new line of lightweight, ergonomic plastic pails for food packaging will be introduced by Plastican Inc. at the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association’s annual Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar and Expo in Atlanta June 7-9. Designed specifically for foodservice applications, the new pails and lids will be on display at the Plastican exhibit, Booth 3585.

Suitable for liquids or dry foods, the round, 4- and 4¼-gallon containers offer easy handling and resealability. Ergonomic finger grips are built into each pail. Lids, available with or without gaskets, have a tamper-evident seal strip. In addition to the new food-service containers, Plastican will showcase a broad line of lightweight containers including the new lightweight 5-gallon container, which features a 19% more efficient use of plastic than standard 5-gallon pails.

Although light in weight, the rigid containers have excellent stacking strength and are designed for close “nesting” to maximize the number of units per truckload. This allows fewer shipments, less product handling, and less packaging waste, so the new line scores high on environmental sustainability scorecards.

Containers made with Plastican’s proprietary resin blends offer excellent ambient and frozen impact strength as well as excellent environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR).  Plastican uses a variety of plastic types (HDPE homopolymer, HDPE copolymer, PP block, or PP random copolymer) to produce custom containers that meet the customer’s specific performance requirements.  The company also works closely with each customer to help choose the decorating process and photo-quality graphics that best enhance the container’s visual appeal.

A leader in innovative materials science and molding technology for the manufacture of high-performance rigid plastic packaging, Plastican has four wholly owned manufacturing facilities in Leominster, Mass.; Dallas; Macon, Ga.; and Phoenix.  Plastican containers hold a wide variety of products, including paints, foods, construction supplies, janitorial supplies, lubricants, specialty chemicals, swimming-pool chemicals, and pet-care products.
