Food Safety & Security Summit

From farm gate to dinner plate, the Food Safety & Security Summit is the largest and most established food safety and security expo and conference in North  America.

The Summit features two and a half days of intensive educational seminars conducted by industry experts, workshops, social and networking events, and a large exhibit hall featuring the industry’s leading problem-solving vendors.

The Food Safety & Security Summit will be held March 17-19, at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center. Entering its tenth year, the summit provides an ideal venue to bring thousands of industry participants, regulators and lawmakers together to discuss the pressing issues facing the entire industry.

The Food Safety & Security Summit will feature expert speakers and trainers, and create a forum for food processors, retailers, food service, academia and government personnel to exchange ideas, find solutions and engage in networking opportunities.

The Summit is owned and operated by BNP Media, the leading media company for the food, beverage and packaging industries. The 2008 Summit will be supported by a comprehensive and integrated attendee marketing campaign incorporating industry-leading publications and websites along with media partners including Food Quality magazine, Food Safety magazine and Quality Assurance magazine.

The Summit features a full program of intensive educational seminars, hands-on workshops, networking events and a large trade show exhibition. The Summit provides food processors, retailers, foodservice, government, military and academic professionals a forum to learn from expert speakers and trainers.

Food safety is no accident

The opening keynote will take place on Tuesday, March 18 at 9:30 a.m.  Rick Frazier, who leads The Coca-Cola Company’s technical stewardship function and oversees the company’s global quality, scientific & regulatory, and environmental efforts, will present to the Summit attendees.

Richard E. Rivera, chairman of the board of the National Restaurant Association will open the Summit’s Tuesday afternoon educational sessions with a special keynote address starting at 2:30 p.m. Rivera will lead the association over the next year, spearheading the industry’s priorities and representing the 12.8 million employees who work in the nation’s restaurants. Hear how food safety is a priority for his term as chairman and will give his unique insight on what exactly that means to the Summit attendees.

On Wednesday, March 19, Dr. David Acheson M.D., who has taken on the new FDA position of assistant commissioner for food protection, will present the keynote address. The preliminary focus will be The FDA: Crisis and Recovery. Acheson is to provide advice and counsel to the Commissioner on strategic and substantive food safety and food defense matters.
