Degussa Food Ingredients has built a new blending unit in Shanghai to expand its activities in the Chinese region. In January the business line texturant systems of Degussa Food Ingredients started the production of texturizing blends in the new Shanghai facility. The new blending unit was built within only 8 months and the production started exactly on schedule. The official inauguration took place last month.

German firms Walterwerk Kiel & Co. and Grossman Maschinebau have formed the WG Alliance to explore worldwide business and improve service to growing customers. Walterwerk Kiel is a leading supplier of production plants for industrial sugar cones used in the ice cream industry. Grossman is known as the internationally leading supplier of production plants for the manufacture of special wafers, snacks and special pastries. Both companies have been in business for more than 50 years.

David Michael & Co. , Philadelphia, a leading flavor and stabilizer manufacturer, has announced plans for its next Innovation Roadshow on October 6 at the Top of the Tower in Philadelphia. David Michael is offering those who attend a unique opportunity in product development insight. The Innovation Roadshow is designed to inspire creativity and innovation, while providing an educational forum to introduce unique flavors and trends from around the globe.

A U.S. District Court in Ohio recently dismissed a lawsuit by Multi-Color Corporation against American Fuji Seal, Inc. Multi-Color had sued American Fuji Seal claiming that American Fuji Seal's perforated DuraCore® in-mold label infringed one or more claims of a U.S. Patent. Multi-Color has agreed to pursue no further legal action against American Fuji Seal for infringement of the patent, and it filed a stipulation of dismissal.

Galliker Dairy Co. , Johnstown, Pa., is introducing a new line of shakes and reintroducing its quart and pint size milks with new shrink labels printed by Seal-It Inc. , Farmingdale, N.Y., and geared to the on the go consumer. Seal-It is printing 14 new labels for Galliker; four quart labels, six pint labels and four milk shake labels. The milk shakes are available in 4 flavors and feature “Kid G” as the Galliker mascot. The Seal-It shrink labels highlight kaleidoscopic graphics and bold colors, and are rotogravure printed in 10 colors.
