"Dairy farming was the main income earner for many families in Bungoma before the Kitinda milk processing plant collapsed," he said. New Kenya co-operative Creameries (KCC) was willing to establish milk coolers at the Kitinda plant.

"This is rare goodwill in which a milk processor supports a potential competitor," he said. He urged the Kenyan government to give financial assistance to the dairy cooperatives.
